Elite Baseball Program Information

Pony Baseball, Inc. makes huge strides to increase the profile of Elite Baseball Program in the Southeast Region...
The Southeast Region of Pony Baseball, Inc. has made great strides to increase the elite travel ball counts in the region over the past few seasons, but we aren't done yet. Partnerships with different travel baseball organizations throughout both states (Florida and Georgia) afford our elite team members the opportunity of participating in a nationally recognized youth baseball program and return to the leagues from which they began.

The Pony Elite Program has been restructured to allow the teams to continue to operate with complete autonomy while representing a local league throughout the regular season. The post season tournaments are formatted to ensure that these elite teams compete against teams of the same caliber through the first few rounds of advancement. Pony Baseball's International Board of Directors is making progress in creating a Zone and World Series Tournament format that will isolate the elite teams from the recreational teams as both programs advance though to the different levels of post season competition. The Pinto Plus 8U Program is currently the only elite division with its own World Series and NEW National Championship, but we hope to make changes in the other divisions soon.

Post Season Eligibility...
Teams registered through a Pony League qualify for post season tournaments through competition within the existing travel ball community. The Southeast Region of Pony Baseball, Inc. has partnerships in place with Nations of Greater Orlando, Nations Baseball, USSSA Baseball, Suncoast Travel Ball, Protime Sports, and IBT promoters. These partnerships provide the elite teams with a business as usual approach to scheduling their season as it relates to participation in tournaments or league play without the hindrance of competing against traditional recreational teams. A team’s travel ball games count toward their team's 10 game requirement for post season eligibility.

Elite Team Registration...
Elite teams will be registered on the league's membership paperwork to ensure compliance with county and city lease agreements. This registration also provides the elite team with insurance which would provide coverage for league games, practices, tournaments, fundraisers, team events, etc., but at a fraction of the normal cost. Leagues are free to decide a flat fee structure for elite teams. These fees would be significantly lower than rental fees for independent field and cage usage, as well as the unnecessary expenses of baseballs, umpires and uniforms. This registration would not require active participation in the league's recreational program, as with other youth baseball organizations.

How does the Pony Elite All Star Program work?

  • Elite teams wishing to participate in the Pony Elite All Star Tournament Series must first have played the required 10 games throughout the regular season (typically January to May).
  • Decide who the team's coaching staff will be, as they will need to be listed on the tournament team's affidavit (roster) and are the only representatives permitted on the field. Depending on the division, teams are limited to a certain number of coaches; 4 coaches (Shetland 6U & Pinto 8U Divisions) and 3 coaches (Mustang 10U, Bronco 12U & Pony 14U Divisions).
  • Each team would need to complete the Tournament Team Application located in the drop down listing of the "Publications/Forms" page and submit payment of $200 to the South Zone Division Director located at the top of the form.
  • Once the South Zone Division Director receives the application and payment, the team manager will receive a confirmation email with login/password information. This information will allow team representatives to input player, coach and insurance information.
The team will need a book with the following information;
  • 2 copies of the tournament team affidavits and pitching records
  • 2 copies of the tournament team's insurance certificate
  • a color photo of each player
  • a color photo of the entire team, including the coaching staff
  • a medical release form for each player
  • a color copy of each player's birth certificate
**** Elite teams advance straight to the Super Regional Tournament in Orlando, Florida in their efforts to advance to either a South Zone or World Series tournament depending on the level of participation of other elite teams. There may be opportunities for elite teams to advance directly to the South Zone Tournament, and the Southeast Region Director will advise if this option is available.
