PONY Player made his MLB Debut

Former PONY Baseball player, Gregory Santos, was promoted to the San Francisco Giants. In 2016, a 16 year old Santos was signed by the Boston Red Sox out of the San Cristobal, Dominican Republic.  His love for baseball during his childhood and adolescence helped develop baseball in this city. He played in PONY Baseball programs since the age of 9.

In 2011, he was a member of a championship team from the Dominican Republic. His team participated in the Bronco-11 World Series in Chesterfield, Virginia.

The following year his team lost, however in 2013, Santos and his teammates won the Dominican Republic National Championship. Because of this, they attended the PONY Caribbean Zone Championship in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

Santos participated in the local Colt tournament in the Dominican Republic in 2015. Shortly after he was signed to the Boston Red Sox.  Santos spent a season and a half with the Red Sox’s Dominican Summer affiliate.  He then was traded to the Giants. He was ranked the 25th best prospect in the Giants organization.

Thursday he was promoted to the San Francisco Giants! In his first appearance he struck out two opponents.

Congratulations Gregory!
