Vinnie Pasquantino Set to Make Big League Debut

Vinnie Pasquantino was the lucky winner in a trade where the Kansas City Royals sent Silver Slugger first baseman Carlos Santana to the Seattle Mariners, clearing the path for his call up to the major leagues.

He was selected in the 11th round of the 2019 draft out of Old Dominion University by the Royals and has quickly become one of the most anticipated call-ups this season. Pasquantino has been a hot hitter in the minor leagues in 2022, batting .280 with 18 home runs for Triple-A Omaha. He is the #3 ranked first baseman prospect in the minors and #98 overall according to MLB.com.

He started his career playing in the 2009 Bronco-11 World Series for Chesterfield, Virginia. His father was the manager of the team who finished 1-2, losing in the quarterfinals to eventual champion, Walnut, California.

Last night Pasquantino was available for the Royals, but didn’t enter the game in a 10-4 loss to the Texas Rangers. He will make his major league debut tonight against the Rangers, batting sixth as the designated hitter.
