CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

PONY has a amazing program for some of our youth that may not always get the opportunity to play in team sports. After some discussion, we are encouraging our PONY affiliated leagues to initiate this program in their parks.  For those who are not aware of this great chance to help some kids, click on the link below for further information. Please, encourage your associations to consider this in your areas also.

LET'S GET THIS STARTED ON A LARGER SCALE

I know several of the associations have started a Champions League, some even have multiple teams. These kids deserve the right o play also and they get just as big a kick out of it as our current players do. There is no cost from PONY to get the teams registered.  A lot of the teams just play on Saturday and they have a blast. Please, consider taking care of all the kids in your area by looking into this.

CONSIDERING BEING A PONY DIRECTOR?

Have you ever thought of being a PONY Director? There are a lot of pluses. You get to help the kids by assisting in managing tournaments to play in. You get to see different styles of playing, coaching and participation. You get to enjoy (For the most part, LOL) the enthusiasm and cheering of the crowd. The most important thing to remember though, is WE ARE THERE FOR THE KIDS!  We are always looking for people who will do this and have the fun you are supposed to have. After all, it is still a game.

Come Join PONY And Get In On The Fun

If you are considering joining PONY Baseball and Softball, call or email one of the Region Directors listed above. We would love to answer all your questions.

BREAKING NEWS!!!

The South Zone finally got the votes to change the Age Key. Arnulfo Banda and the Division Directors, George Patterson, Abel Gorena, Joshua Rendonand Billy Brooks got the rest of PONY to vote to change the Age Key to April 30. It will be effective this coming season. PONY sent out this letter to all the boards today:

(Washington, Pennsylvania – October 9, 2022)– The PONY Baseball and Softball International Board of Directors has voted today to change the age determination date for baseball to April 30 effective for the 2023 baseball season. After considerable discussion and careful deliberation, it was determined that this was the best course of action for our membership.

Over the past couple of years, there has been a lot of discussion about the PONY age determination date. This is an important topic to everyone involved in PONY, and PONY has sought input from volunteers, parents, and coaches that has helped guide the PONY International Board of Directors to ultimately change the current age determination date for all divisions of PONY baseball to April 30.

“This has been an ongoing topic of discussion and debated since we changed the date back to August several years ago,” stated PONY President Abraham Key. “By changing the date, we will now align with a large majority of youth baseball organizations. Many PONY member organizations did not make the change years ago and this will help us realign our membership and ensure them additional opportunities in the PONY organization.”

There will be no loss of eligibility for any participants in the 2023 season, essentially the PONY program will be four (4) months older starting in 2023. Players born in the months of May, June, July, and August will have a choice of whether to stay in their respective age groups or move up into an older age group with their former teammates.

THERE IS AN AGE KEY FLOATING  AROUND FACEBOOK THAT IS COMPLETELY WRONG!!! I'M NOT SURE WHERE IT IS COMING FROM, BUT IT IS INACCURATE. THE ONLY AGE KEY THAT IS CORRECT IS THE ONE BELOW.
